Favourite Apps of 2016

As 2016 comes to a close, it’s that time of year for the annual “best of …” or “favourite things of 2016.”This post will be focusing on the apps that I used the most this year, so much that I consider them my favourite apps of 2016. CRTC says broadband internet is a basic service

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has declared in a new ruling that broadband internet access is a basic telecommunications service for all Canadians.The CRTC will also be creating a new fund to invest up to $750 million CAD over the next five years, this is on top of existing government programs.The commission is set their target at 50 megabits per second (Mbps) for download speeds and 10 Mbps for uploads. This is about 10 times higher than the CRTC’s last internet speed targets from 2011, which were 5 Mbps for downloads and 1 Mbps for uploads.The new targets are speed requirements are not the minimum that internet service providers must offer but the CRTC wants telecoms to make 50 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up available to all customers across Canada including rural areas.In addition, the latest ruling also states that internet providers are obligated to offer unlimited data options for fixed broadband services.
