Google Store’s back to school sale brings discounts on Pixel, Home & Chromecast

It’s that time of year again, where summer is almost over and retailers have started their back to school sales and the Google Store is no different.

On the Canadian Google Store, you can save up to $200 on the Google Pixel and Pixel XL in all colour and storage options and you’ll get a free Daydream View headset with every Pixel purchase.

The sale pricing is as follows:

  • Pixel (32GB) – $774 CAD (normally $899 CAD)
  • Pixel (128GB) – $904 CAD (normally $1,029 CAD)
  • Pixel XL (32GB) – $849 CAD (normally $1,049 CAD)
  • Pixel XL (128GB) – $979 CAD (normally $1,179 CAD)

In addition, if you need a case for your new Pixel phone, the Google Earth Live Case and Trends Live Case are down to $25 CAD each. The standard Pixel Case and Pixel XL case by Google are $20 CAD each. If you want a pop of colour, Google’s coloured Pixel and Pixel XL hard silicone cases are $22.50 CAD each.

Google Home is down to $159 CAD (down from $179 CAD) and Google is offering small discounts on the Chromecast.

The Chromecast Audio and standard Chromecast are $40 CAD each (save $5). While the Chromecast Ultra is $80 CAD.

As for on the US Google Store, they’re offering the same up to $200 off a Pixel with a free Daydream View headset.

The Pixel starts at $524 USD, the Google Home is down to $109 USD ($20 off), Google’s OnHub routers are $99 USD each ($30 off), the LG Watch Style is $199 USD ($50 off) and you can get a free Chromecast Audio if you purchase a Google Wifi 3-pack.

Google brings back Glass but for the enterprise

After nearly two years, Google has introduced an updated version of Glass, but this time for the enterprise market.Alphabet’s experimental X division has been testing the new Google Glass as part of a limited program for the past two years but now they’ve opened it up to more businesses.Some example of businesses that are currently using Glass, include GE Aviation with software made by Upskill which will display instructions and helpful information during airplane assembly and maintenance. With the new Google Glass, GE’s mechanics are able to keep working with videos, animation and images staying in their line of sight. This has improved GE’s mechanics’ efficiency by 8-12%.The Glass team has been working with more than 50 companies, including AGCO, DHL, Dignity Health, NSF International, Sutter Health, The Boeing Company and Volkswagen.
